As soon as Camden entered the car in carpool today, he said, "Mom, I have a girlfriend!" A girlfriend? He's only in kindergarten! As we continued to talk, he told me that a girl in his class, Claxi, had asked him if he was her friend. During afternoon center time, apparently she made a book about the two of them and Camden drew a picture of them together. Very cute.
Greg and my desire has always been to keep communication open about friends, girlfriends, and things happening at school. We don't want to pick or joke because we know that puts up walls. Alas, Camden's first girlfriend - what do we say? How do we respond - I'm glad that you are friends : )
